Tour Itinerary

Day 1 UK

Depart from UK on your flight to Sri Lanka.

Day 2 Airport / Negombo

Upon arrive in Colombo Airport, meet & greet by our representative at Bandaranaike International Airport and proceed to Negombo. Overnight stay at Jetwing Lagoon 5*, Negombo.

Day 3 Negombo/Pinnawela/Sigiriya

After breakfast drive to Sigiriya (Aprx. 156 KM, 4½ hours drive). En route visit popular Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage - started in 1975 to house the abandoned and the wounded, the orphanage has grown to be a big family today. A unique experience never to be missed.

Continue to Sigiriya. Stay three nights at Jetwing Vill Uyana 5* , Sigiriya. (Small Luxury Hotel of the world)

Day 4 Sigiriya/Polonnaruwa/Minneriya/Sigiriya

In the morning, sightseeing tour of Polonnaruwa, the 12th Century Sinhalese capital. * Polonnaruwa, which was the 2nd capital city of Sri Lanka, built in the 11th and 12th centuries AD, and which is a world heritage site. Here you can see the ruins of the Royal Palace, the Gal Viharaya –where 4 splendid statues of the Buddha in ‘Upright’, ‘Sedentary`’ and ‘Recumbent’ postures carved out of rock, the Audience Hall, the Lotus Bath, king Parakramabahu’s statue, and the Parakrama Samudraya lake built by King Parakramabahu the great. There are also monuments of famous places of worship such as the Shiva Temple, the Lankathilake, the Watadage, the Galpotha, the Kiri Vehera and the remains of a former Temple of the Tooth Relic.

Late afternoon commence * A Jeep Safari at Minneriya National Park - This National Park with 8889 hectares in extent is famous for it large population of elephants in herds of 100 to 150 roaming in the jungle and seen in the catchment area of the lake. Entrance is at Ambagaswewa about 6 km from Habarana on the main Habarana Polonnaruwa road. Office is by the side of the main road. Elephants, about 300 wild elephants, wild buffaloes, wild boar, spotted deer, sloth bear, Sambhur, leopards, crocodiles, jackals, 9 kinds of amphibians, 25 kinds of reptiles, 160 species of birds, 26 varieties of fishes, 78 varieties of butterflies are recorded from the Minneriya National Park

Day 5 Sigiriya

In the morning, visit the rock fortress of Sigiriya. Which is a world heritage site, built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). A climb to the top (only for the energetic) will reveal a spectacular view. The gallery of frescoes half way up is definite highlight. These frescoes are painted in earth pigments on plaster.

Day6 Dambulla/Kandy

After breakfast proceed to Kandy. En route visit of Dambulla rock cave temple, where some of the finest preserved ancient frescoes can be found. Dambulla is a World Heritage site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples.

Evening witness a cultural show featuring various dance types of Sri Lanka

Overnight stay at Earl's Regency Hotel 5* , Kandy.

Day 7 Kandy

After breakfast commence sightseeing including the Upper Lake Drive, Market Square Arts & Crafts Centre and Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Thereafter visit the famous Temple of the Tooth and later afternoon visit the Royal Botanical Gardens ablaze with colourful exotic plants (Optional).

Day 8 Kandy/Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast drive toward the hill country, with a stop en route to visit a tea plantation and factory. Then travel on to Nuwarra Eliya, the most celebrated of the hill stations and set in a stunning mountain valley some 6,000 feet above sea level. Afternoon sightseeing, with spectacular views of the beautiful green hillsides, rushing waterfalls and tea plantations. Overnight stay at Ceylon Tea Trails - Boutique, Nuwara Eliya.

Day 9 Nuwara Eliya

Leave for the Horton Plains for a three hour scenic trek through Sri Lanka’s highest plateau (7,200 feet above sea level) to ‘World’s End’ and Bakers Falls. Spectacular views, a bracing climate, rare birds and butterflies are your reward for the climb. Overnight stay at Ceylon Tea Trails - Boutique, Nuwara Eliya.

Day 10 Nuwara Eliya / Bentota

Drive to Bentota. En route visit Kithulgala, Here you can enjoy a refreshing river bath and a traditional lunch. Stay for 4 nights at Vivanta By Taj 5*, Bentota.

Day 11 , 12 & 13 Bentota

Leisure.

Overnight stay at Vivanta By Taj 5*, Bentota.

Day 14 Bentota / Airport / UK

You will be transferred to Colombo International Airport for your onward flight to UK.

Extensions

You may chose to spend more time on the beach in Sri Lanka or spend a last night in Colombo. Also Sri Lanka can easily be combined with the Maldives, less than an hour’s flight away, and experience some of the world’s finest beach resorts. Alternatively, Sri Lanka’s closest neighbour, India, offers a host of attractions, including the world famous Taj Mahal including Golden Triangle tour . It is also possible to combine Sri Lanka with Dubai, Abu Dhabi or some of the other Gulf States and South East Asia.
