Burj Al Arab is the first winner of the new award category of 'Best Hotel in the World'
Dubai, 21 May 2013 - Burj Al Arab, the World's Most Luxurious Hotel, won two esteemed Ultimate Luxury Travel Related Awards (ULTRAs) in the Best Hotel in the World and Best Hotel in the Middle East categories at the prestigious ULTRA Award Ceremony held at The Dorchester hotel in London last night.
The ULTRAs reflect the combined opinions of the readers of Ultratravel - the Daily Telegraph's luxury travel magazine - and they serve as a unique and trusted source of advice to all travellers worldwide. The awards recognise the best luxury hotels, airlines, cruise companies, spas and destinations from all over the world. This year, the organisers have expanded the number of entry categories and added Best Hotel in the World classification, crowning Burj Al Arab with the notable title.
Burj Al Arab, the World's Most Luxurious Hotel, introduced today bespoke 24-carat gold iPads for its in-house guests. The exclusive launch makes Burj Al Arab the first hotel in the world to offer the Interactive Customer Experience (ICE) software available on the 24-carat gold iPads.
The 24-carat gold iPads, designed specifically for Burj Al Arab and engraved with the hotel's logo, will be offered to every guest upon check-in. The guests will be able to use the 24-carat gold iPad as a "virtual concierge" and - at the touch of the button - access both information and the extensive selection of hotel services, such as the Guest Services Directory, detailed descriptions of Burj Al Arab's restaurant options and spa menu, as well as private dining, butler and housekeeping services, among many other options.

Burj Al Arab is designed to resemble a billowing sail and stands at a height of 321 meters. It is one of the most photographed structures in the world and has been consistently voted the world's most luxurious hotel, with features including in suite check-in and check-out, reception desks on every floor, round-the-clock private butlers and use of the hotel's Rolls-Royce fleet and private beach. The hotel's 202 luxury suites range from 170 to 780 square meters with a rain shower and a Jacuzzi in each suite, as well as six restaurants and conference and banqueting venues.
Burj Al Arab is an all-suite hotel that encompasses 28 double stories to contain the 202 luxury duplexes of superior standard.
The collection of duplex suites ranges from 170 square metres (1,830 square feet) to an incredible 780 square meters (8,396 square feet).
