Here at Value Added Travel we are big believers in the idea that holidays shouldn’t be restricted to just one destination. Not when the world has so many beautiful and inspiring destinations to admire.

After over a year of travel restrictions, we support that idea more than ever. Have you ever thought about embarking on a multi-centre trip to make the most of your time off? If you haven’t, here’s why you should.

The first European multi-centre trip we recommend is Spain and Portugal. These countries are close in proximity making travel easy, and feature an amazing array of cuisine, site-seeing opportunities and natural wonders. What’s not to love?

Spain and Portugal

Spain and Portugal are both hugely popular destinations for tourists, and it’s not hard to see why. Both countries have beautiful weather, gorgeous natural attractions and delicious food, with a range of fantastic site-seeing opportunities that are equally not to be missed.

The best time to plan your multi-centre trip to these destinations is either between the months of March and May, or September and October. This is to ensure that you experience the more comfortable temperatures of the Mediterranean heat, and miss the tourist rush of the peak summer months, so that you can enjoy your trip and relax.

Where Should I Visit In Spain?

Whilst we could write for days of the wonders of Spain, we have selected two must-sees.

Spain boasts multiple cities and villages that attract thousands of tourists every year, mostly for their famous tapas style dishes. We personally recommend visiting Barcelona for the fabulous culture, attractions, and architecture, including the Basílica de la Sagrada Família. This is in Northern Barcelona, and boasts eighteen huge towers that stand far above all the other buildings, making for a spectacular sight. So spectacular, in fact, that the Basílica de la Sagrada Família is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Following this, it wouldn’t be a multi-centre trip to Spain without visiting the beautiful city of Seville. Seville is famous for a range of reasons, including it’s beautiful monuments and unique traditions, as well as being the birthplace of Flamenco dancing. Aside from this, Seville is famous for it’s orange trees. The city is so populated with this particular orange tree, that across the world the variety has been dubbed “The Seville Orange”.

Where Should I Visit In Portugal?

When you’re ready to move on from the wonders of Spain, Portugal awaits. From beautiful beaches, fabulous history and delicious wine, Portugal is the perfect European destination for those that want a real feel for tradition.

First up, Algarve. Known for it’s beaches, Algarve is hugely popular with tourists and golf-lovers alike. Visit the traditional town of Tavira, the fishing village of Ferragudo, and experience this beautiful region one stop at a time. Destinations include Faro, Lagos and Albufeira.

Secondly, we recommend visiting the country’s capital: Lisbon. A great destination for a city break, Lisbon boasts attractions such as Belem Tower, Jeronimos Monastery, Praca do Comercio and more, so if tradition and history is your number one travel motivation, Lisbon is not one to miss.

Finally, this destination is one for all the wine lovers out there. Porto is a city situated in North-west Portugal, known best for it’s wine and beautiful bridges. Explore cobbled streets and medieval sites during your stay and get a real feel for the old-town Portugal way of life.
