Location
The sun kissed island of Sri Lanka lies in the Indian Ocean, to the southwest of the Bay of Bengal and to the southeast of the Arabian Sea. It is separated from the Indian subcontinent by the Gulf of Mannar and the Palk Strait. Reef is located in the small unspoilt seaside hamlet of Wadduwa on the south west coast of Sri Lanka.
Accommodation
The elegant suites are immense and feature unique antique romantic four-poster canopied beds together with soaring ceilings lined with Kerala terracotta tiles that give a feeling of relaxed grandeur.
The furniture is a combination of original Campaign antique pieces and beautifully crafted items based on furniture as used by members of the East India Company.
The highly decorated antique Calcutta four poster beds were constructed for the British Raj and their families from the 1840’s and together with the antique electric fans and ceiling fixed punkah fans, enhance the fabulous Colonial style.
The contemporary Bharat hand crafted coloured floor tiles, replicating the famous encaustic tiles, invented by 12th Century monks, are the legacy of the magnificent decorative floors which were so popular in the Colonies from the end of the nineteenth century. They are beautiful and cool underfoot.
There are soft 400 hundred thread count cotton sheets and pillow cases, lightweight cotton dressing gowns, the fluffiest of towels and complimentary slippers.
The bathrooms are is incomparable; they feature a fabulous free-standing, hand carved granite bath tub, twin carved granite vanity basins a gorgeous rain shower with polished granite shower screen - testament of fine Indian craftsmanship and also feature an immense and stunning Venetian style mirror.
In the bathroom you will find a selection from an exquisite array of beauty products by Kama Ayurveda of India guaranteed to pamper your body.
The suites have various spacious shaded verandas for private dining and relaxation, perfect for a well deserved sun downer.
Restaurants & Bars
At Reef we are for acclaimed for our attentive staff and our meticulous attention to detail and so dining is a special experience at Reef. We have two state-of-the-art kitchens that are orchestrated by our wonderful Chefs.
You can choose to dine at our restaurant by the pool under illuk thatched timbers with a gentle breeze from the Indian Ocean or you may dine al fresco under the stars.

After an exhausting day resting on a palm shaded hammock or taking a lazy stroll along the beach, cool down in the infinity edge pool and Jacuzzi under gentle swaying coconut trees whilst gazing out at the Indian Ocean.

YOGA:
Hatha Yoga also called Hatha Vidya is a system of Yoga introduced by Yogi Swatmarama, a sage of 15th century India, and compiler of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. Hatha Yoga tuition is available on request in our Yoga Pavilion. Wake up and stretch with some gentle exercises or enjoy your yoga practice in the evening as the sun goes down
READING:
We have a small library in the main house, where you can curl up with a good read on our ample sofas and we will be pleased to serve you traditional English afternoon tea.
TENNIS AND TABLE TENNIS:
Play tennis on our hard-court all year round tennis court or play table tennis in our ample shaded table tennis pavilion.
WATER SPORTS:
Reef is ideally placed for water sports in Bentota, approximately 25mins away. Watersports available include windsurfing, water skiing, sailing, deep sea fishing, fresh water fishing, canoeing/kayaking, snorkelling and scuba diving. The Season for diving in Bentota is mid November to the end of March with ideal conditions around the 20th of December until about the 15th of March.
