Crete is the largest island in Greece and the 5th largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. It is located in the southern part of the Aegean Sea separating the Aegean from the Libyan Sea.

Crete, you will find some of the most significant attractions in Greece: well-known archaeological sites such as the Minoan palaces of Knossos, Phaistos, Malia and Kato Zakros. You will also visit significant monasteries, some built in the 15th century or even earlier, as well as the Preveli Monastery in southern Rethymno, the monasteries in southern Heraklion and the historic Arkadi and Toplous monasteries.

The region of Chania, on the western side of the island, is dominated by the impressive White Mountains (in Greek: Lefka Ori) and its famous National Park, which occupy the largest part of the region.
